Apple has, out of the blue, launched Smart Battery Cases for its latest iPhones – the XS, XS Max and the XR. These cases have earlier been reported to be in the works, with people finding evidence in iOS codes.

Apple has priced these cases at $129 for all three cases and will be available in black and white silicon variants across range and will feature Apple’s battery hump that it introduced with its earlier battery cases too.

Apple claims that the Smart Battery Case adds 33 hours of additional talk time, 21 hours of internet usage and 25 hours of video playback. The case for XS Max adds 37 hours of talk time, 20 hours of internet usage and video playbakc of 25 hours. The case for iPhone XR, on the other hand, adds 39 hours of talk time, 22 hours of internet usage and 27 hours of video.

The Smart Battery Case is compatible with Qi-certified chargers. With the Smart Battery Case on, the intelligent battery status is displayed on the iPhone Lock screen and in Notification Center, so you know exactly how much charge you have left.

However, these Qi-certified cases will not work with any older iPhone models, 9to5Mac reported – in case you were wondering to get one for your iPhone X, the dimensions are not exactly identical.

These cases are available for customers in the United States to order immediately. So far, there is no official word on whether these cases will make it to our shores.
