According to media reports, the next lineup of iPhones might not get the 3.5mm headphone jack converter.
The supplier of Apple’s headphone connector has sad that the next three iPhones will not have the converter in the box.
The supplier, Cirrus Logic, according to a Barclays research note, has confirmed that Apple will not include the $9 Lightning - 3.5mm jack in all iPhone boxes from the next generation of the phone, as reported by TechRadar.
This adds to Apple's plans of going completely wireless, adding to the rumours that the next generation of the iPad will also let go of the 3.5mm jack.
Since the launch of the iPhone 7 in 2016, all iPhones have come with this connector in-the-box to let the users use their headphones on the iPhone.
Although this is just a statement from the supplier and doesn't necessarily mean that the iPhone will not provide a connector from now on. It could also mean that Apple might be looking to go elsewhere to get the connector. But since Apple envisions a wireless future, it might just be the case.
Cirrus Logic has not said that they will stop making the connector, which may be available for purchase separately.
