It’s 27 September and the new iPhone 11 series has started to make its way to stores, from where buyers who have pre-ordered their new devices can pick them up.
Browsing across different parts of the country, it seems Apple has managed to create some excitement with the new devices, especially the iPhone 11, priced at under Rs 60,000 after a slew of discounts.
It’s possible that most of these users are upgrading from 2 or even 3 generation older iPhones, for whom the new 11 could be a right upgrade before the festive season kicks in.
According to reports, people queued up at various Apple stores across the country – from DLF CyberHub in Gurgaon to Palladium Mall at Lower Parel in Mumbai and UB City in Bengaluru to get the new iPhones.
Meanwhile, our search for big crowds to buy the iPhones in Noida was a muted affair. There were next to no buyers.
After checking with store executives, it became clear that buyers were yet to show up at the counters, while some stores were still waiting for the units to reach them.
The craze to buy the iPhone has been shared by fanboys on social media earlier on Friday as well.
Even industry executives like Prabhu Ram, Head-Industry Intelligence Group at CMR has accepted that demand for new iPhones in India has gone beyond initial expectations.
According to Tarun Pathak, Associate Director, Mobile Devices and Ecosystems at Counterpoint Research, as per their channel checks, they are picking up a strong festive uptick for iPhone 11 series in India, especially the iPhone 11.
Even with the online pre-bookings from 20 September, the iPhone 11 devices went out-of-stock in just three days.
We won’t be surprised if Apple hit its record festive season sales in India driven by iPhone 11 and XR.Tarun Pathak, Associate Director, Mobile Devices and Ecosystems at Counterpoint Research to IANS
The iPhone 11 series in India starts from Rs 64,900 this year, with the iPhone 11 Pro Max priced at Rs 1,09,900. The most expensive iPhone 11 Pro Max 512 GB is priced at Rs 1,41,000. Experts believe that just like the demand for iPhone XR went up after the price cuts, iPhone 11 will be on high demand, especially with its lower pricing this year.
