It’s not even a month since Apple officially launched the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in India, and distributors have started offering a up to Rs 34,000 buyback scheme if you purchase the new phone.

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are exorbitantly priced, starting at Rs 62,000 and going up to Rs 92,000.

Ingram Micro has rolled out the buyback scheme in their Apple stores and multi-brand cellphone retail chains in South India and plans to take it national. Because the phones are so highly priced Apple wants to achieve its sales target, which has seen a slump in the thrid quarter of the year, in relation to last year’s sales.

The buyback price of Rs 34,000 is against the iPhone 6, depending on its condition. The company also plans to give select buybacks on hi-end Android smartphones.

The move highlights how desperate Apple is to boost the sales of their new iPhones in India as they did not expect the phones to have such a poor show.
