This weeks big Amazon move will come as an exciting news for online shoppers in India. The popular online shopping site is now offering its Prime offerings for the Indian consumers, priced at Rs 499 for a year. So what exactly is there to know about the Prime which could change the way people shop online.
What is Amazon Prime
Prime is Amazon’s successful model of retaining consumers in the US. Here in India, Flipkart has been doing its best Prime impression with the Flipkart First service.
With Prime now in India, for Rs 499 (introductory price) for a year, and a 60-day trial period, you get the freedom to try out the service and then decide whether its worth your money or not. As informed by the company the subscription value for Prime will be increased to Rs 999 for a year, but we don’t know when that’s going to happen.
What Does Prime Offer
Once you apply for Prime membership, buying on Amazon.in will come with different set of exclusive perks, that aren’t accessible to the general public. Amazon promises free One-Day and Two-Day delivery for Prime members, but only on products that comes with a Prime stamp over it on the listing.
Other than that, Prime users also get the chance to get discounts on same-day, morning or scheduled delivery. You also will be able to buy Amazon exclusive products, half an hour before everybody else.
So, for example, if the OnePlus 4 stays Amazon exclusive next year, then Prime buyers will get the chance to buy it earlier than most. The same rule applies on lightning deals as well, giving Prime users a 30-minute extra window to shop.
Amazon Prime Vs the Rest
Right now, Amazon will be fighting it out with Flipkart but truth be told, Prime might work out better than one can imagine.
The Jeff Bezos-owned company has been bullish about its take on India, pumping billions of money to give them the numero uno status in the online shopping space, which keeps on growing gradually.
Get Ready for Prime Videos
But more than shopping, we’re eager to see what Amazon manages to offer with its Prime Videos service. This could rival existing brands like Netflix, Hotstar and Hooq among others in the Indian market.
The content availability will make a world of difference which could make or break the point of rolling out Prime Videos in the first place. Price them right, give us all the best and favourite movie titles (available to all) and we might have a winner.
