Airtel has rolled out 4G VoLTE service in a few parts of India, taking its fight with Reliance Jio to the next level. Unlike Jio, Airtel’s service will continue to function if there’s only 2G/3G network available in the area.

The telco, along with Vodafone and Idea Cellular, is having a hard time luring users to its network, forcing them into lowering their data prices. They’ve also announced a slew of schemes for users who are migrating to the network, and the VoLTE programme has got a similar offer for those using it for the first time.

The VoLTE beta package offers free data to Airtel users – here’s everything you need to know.

What Is Airtel VoLTE Beta Program?

The Airtel VoLTE beta program is offering 30GB free data to interested users who are willing to jump to its new network. This data will be credited to the customer’s account in three monthly instalments of 10GB each.

You can head over to the Airtel VoLTE Beta website and register your interest for the program. As pointed out by Airtel, users looking to join the program need to have a VoLTE-enabled smartphone, along with an Airtel 4G SIM card.

The first set of free data will be offered when they switch to the VoLTE network. The second lot will be provided after Airtel takes feedback on the network from the user. And the last set of free data reaches the user after the telco takes its 8-month feedback from them.

Airtel has cited that the network in beta stage could face regular fluctuations and this program has been designed to iron out the issues based on user feedback.

The VoLTE beta program has been designed by Airtel to lure its users to migrate to its latest network technology. Both data and voice calls operate on the same bandwidth with 4G VoLTE, unlike its existing network, which enabled Jio to offer free voice calling. Others have also picked up that practice.

Airtel is currently testing out its VoLTE beta program in West Bengal, Orissa, Assam, Kerala, Bihar, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh. More states are likely to added in the coming months.

Prices of 4G VoLTE-enabled phones have come down drastically over the past 10 months, encouraging more users to make the switch. Luring customers with free data is a smart move and this could work in favour of both parties.
