Ask any smartphone user and they will tell you how fast download speeds automatically translate to a superior mobile experience. That’s because with a speedy network, you get to stream videos, play games, check social media and do lots more on your phone without any interruptions.
Download speeds
Speaking about fast networks, Airtel has been once again named as the fastest operator by mobile network speed measurement firm Ookla in their latest report. The report is based on data collected from across telcos for the period between August 2018 and July 2019. This means, as an Airtel user, you get to enjoy high speeds all the time and irrespective of where you are.
Whether it’s watching your favourite shows or doing an Instagram live with your followers, Airtel has you covered.
What makes this win significant for Airtel is that Ookla is a global leader in internet testing and analysis. Furthermore, its flagship platform Speedtest is said to be an accurate indicator of internet performance.
While during the 12-month period under analysis, download speeds of all telcos had shown improvement, Airtel was consistently leading as compared to its competitors. The report further shows that Airtel’s download speed went up by 7.7% during the same period.
Acceptable Speed Ratio
The report also rated mobile operators on a parameter called Acceptable Speed Ratio (ASR). ASR is a measure of how consistently a telco provides speeds at or above 5Mbps, fast enough for mobile users to stream videos on their phones. On this parameter as well, Airtel came out on top. It had the highest ASR among all telcos in every single month, during the period under consideration. Airtel’s ASR for the year stood at 70.4%, nearly 10% more than its closest competitor.
Say hello to good times
Airtel has been consistently named by Ookla as the fastest mobile operator. It’s evident that the telco is putting consumers first and pulling out all stops to ensure that they get the best experience on their smartphones.
The telco is constantly investing in newer technologies to stay ahead of the game.
In fact, it’s the first operator in India to have completely phased out 3G technology in a metropolitan city. Recently, Airtel shut down its 3G services in Kolkata so it could reassign the spectrum to improve 4G in the city. This means residents of the City Of Joy have access to stronger 4G network throughout the city.
It’s a little too soon to say as to when 5G technology will come to India, but till then you can definitely enjoy super fast download speeds with Airtel 4G!
