Can you get an affordable laptop in the country right now that is worth the price? Most of what we have seen are cheap knock-off devices that are true to their price, not so much on the way they perform. You’ve got the likes of HP, Lenovo, Acer, and Micromax making affordable Windows laptop that are low on hardware.
So, is that going to change anytime soon? Well, the good news is it will, and this has been confirmed by Intel, the company which powers the hardware inside the affordable laptops.
The company is in the process of upgrading the processor running affordable laptops selling in the Indian market. Currently, one gets an Atom processor with 2GB RAM which, frankly, is merely filling up space. But according to Intel, things are about to change later this year.
We have designed a new set of processors for the affordable laptop range. These will be available in the country very soon from Dell, HP with others to follow.Thaine Creitz, Director - Consumer Technical Marketing, Intel
Portable devices have found solace with buyers lately, and according to Creitz, the trend is set to continue along the same path this year.
We will upgrade the existing Atom processors for the portable range, as well as offer 6th gen dual-core processor for the affordable range of convertibles priced in the Rs 30K segment.Thaine Creitz, Director - Consumer Technical Marketing, Intel
So, there you have it. Intel is gearing up to launch the new range of laptops and Windows 10 convertibles in the Indian market that are supposed to be not only affordable but powerful as well. We can’t wait to try those out.
