The Jio Phone has been on everybody’s mind since it was announced. From over a million pre-bookings, the phone has garnered a lot of interest among tier 3 and tier 2 cities.
Now that its making its way to Jio stores and people are finally beginning to get their hands on the phones, we at The Quint were lucky to get a Jio Phone for a while.
The phone comes bundled with a lot for exciting features like NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, bluetooth, and video calling.
It comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA display that performs well. For processing, it comes with a dual-core chipset coupled with 512MB RAM. What’s really impressive is that the phone comes with expandable memory on top of 4GB of internal storage.
Battery back-up seems sufficient as it comes with a 2000mah battery that provides stand-by up to 15 days. The back is removable and houses a 2-megapixel camera along with a speaker grill.
The front sports a physical keypad which is comfortable to navigate. It also has voice assistant which gets activated by pressing down and holding the button with the mic icon.
The Jio Phone comes with a 0.3-megapixel front camera which can be used to make video calls as well. It supports 4G VoLTE calling and Wi-Fi.
One of the biggest feature of the phone is that you can connect it to any TV using the JioMedia cable and watch all of the phone’s content on a big screen. It’s is like an audio/video cable.
The pre-booking of the phone started on 24 August and deliveries have started. To pre-book the phone you have to pay Rs 500 and at the time of delivery Rs 1,000 which can be refunded after 3 years (only if you return the phone).
