The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 will appeal to purists who want performance with a dash of luxury in a sedan body style. The 2017 CLA 45 gets additional styling elements such as a new front splitter and air intakes, which have apparently improved aerodynamics. The grille features a chrome twin slat. The boot gets a redesigned spoiler lip. Inside it gets red and black contrast stitching, art-leather seats.

The AMG CLA 45 is powered by a 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor that puts out 375 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 475 Nm of torque between 2,250 and 5,000 rpm. This is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the 4Matic all-wheel drive system. It can do 0-100 kmph in 4.2 seconds.

Buyers looking for a slightly more aggressive and rugged body style would be looking at the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45. Besides slightly more ground clearance would be welcome. The GLA 45 also gets a refresh, with an all-new front grille design, LED headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels and a few other design bits. Like the CLA 45, it also gets a new leather covered dash with red stitching.

The AMG GLA 45 is mated to the same 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol motor that the CLA also comes with. Power and torque figures are identical. It also gets the 4Matic all-wheel drive system, and can do 0-100 kmph in 4.4 seconds.
