Seldom are you lucky enough to watch a game that’s so tense, it leaves you sitting on the edge of your seat, oblivious to what’s going on around you. Well, that’s precisely what happened in Wednesday night’s IPL match at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium where Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Royals were locked in a fight to the finish.

While Delhi did come out shining with a 4-run victory, the real winner that night was a smartly pulled off marketing stunt in the stands. In what can be called a marketing masterstroke, few seats in the stadium were dressed in red-coloured t-shirts. What the t-shirts had to say was all the more intriguing. One of them read: ‘Couldn’t be here? Watch this match live on Airtel 4G’. Then there was another one addressed at those who were still ‘stuck at work’.

This not only amused those present there, but instantly caught the attention of Twitterati as well, who started sharing images of the t-shirts on their timelines. And before you know it, everyone was talking about it. People were praising the brand for their rather innovative marketing strategy.

It was raining in Delhi that night and as a result, some people were stuck in traffic and couldn’t make it to the stadium on time. No wonder this perfectly-timed stunt resonated with the public and became the talking point, offline and online.

Then there were those who were clearly impressed with Airtel’s marketing team.

The message was clear to everyone. Whether you’re stuck at work or stranded somewhere due to the rains, there’s no reason you should be missing out on your favourite IPL matches. So the next time you’re unable to make it to the stadium on time or the tickets get sold out, fret not because Airtel 4G’s got you covered.
