Hyundai India has a number of vehicles on display at the Auto Expo 2018, but the show-stealers at the stall are the new Hyundai Elite i20, the Hyundai Ioniq electric and the hybrid cars.
The Hyundai Elite i20 has a starting price of Rs 5.34 lakh, and can go up to Rs 8.9 lakh for the top-end diesel variant. Base diesel variant price starts at Rs. 6.37 lakh.
The Hyundai Elite i20 has been given a facelift. Among the external changes are a redesigned front bumper, grille and headlamps. At the rear, it gets a smarter rear bumper, LED tail-lamps and a dual tone colour scheme.
The interiors get a brand new infotainment system with a 17cm touch-screen display, with navigation and reverse camera. Other additions include a rear armrest and a front sliding armrest, that serve to add to the comfort of the car.
The top-end Elite i20 Asta variant, now comes with an option of six airbags.
One of the key missing features of the car have now been updated. Hyundai i20 owners will relate to the lack of the speed sensing door locks.
The Hyundai Elite i20 2018 continues to be powered by a choice of 2 engines – a 1.4 litre, a 4-cylinder diesel engine with 90PS of power and 220 Nm of torque with a 6-speed manual and a 1.2 petrol with 83PS of power and 116 Nm of torque. This has a 5-speed manual transmission. The petrol variant also gets a CVT automatic option.
Hyundai also showcased the Ioniq Hybrid and Ioniq electric sedans – that are likely to debut in India in 2019. The Ioniq electric has a 120 Bhp motor and churns out 295 Nm of torque with battery capacity up to 92 KwH. It has a range of 280 Km.
The Hyundai hybrid Ioniq has a smaller 43bhp electric motor and 104 bhp, 1.6 litre petrol motor combined. The total power output is about 139 bhp from this version of the Ioniq. Expect this car to be priced north of Rs 30 lakh when launched.
