With the launch of the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi has kicked off 2018 on an impressive note. The Redmi Note predecessor, the Redmi Note 4, was a hot seller and the Redmi Note 5 has big shoes to fill.
However, can it do that?
Also an important question to ask is, what’s really the deal with the Redmi Note 5 Pro? What ‘pro’ features does it bring to the table?
Here’s our first impression of the two Redmi Note phones.
Some new features that the Redmi phones have are the bezel-less 18:9 ratio display, a new processor, and a dual rear camera on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. These great additions to the Redmi Note series are are bound to attract a lot of interest in the market.
The Redmi Note 5 shares a lot of ergonomics with its sibling, the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Both the new Redmi Note phone sport a full metal design and support USB Type_ charging (we would have preferred Type-C). Despite that, both phones are special in their own way.
The Redmi Note 5 has been launched at Rs 9,999 for the 3GB+32GB variant, and Rs 11,999 for the 4GB+64GB variant.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro has been launched for Rs 13,999 for the 4GB+64GB variant, while the most expensive Redmi phone costs Rs 16,999 for the 6GB+64GB variant.
To make the deal sweeter, Xiaomi is offering the phones bundled with a Jio offer and is luring customers with cashback worth Rs 2,200 and 100 percent additional 4G data.
Xiaomi has hit the competitors hard with these two phones, and it’s going to be tough to look away from a bargain this good. The Redmi Note 4 was a hot seller and we expect these two to go down the same path.
(The Quint, in association with BitGiving, has launched a crowdfunding campaign for an 8-month-old who was raped in Delhi on 28 January 2018. The baby girl, who we will refer to as 'Chhutki', was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin when her parents were away. She has been discharged from AIIMS hospital after undergoing three surgeries, but needs more medical treatment in order to heal completely. Her parents hail from a low-income group and have stopped going to work so that they can take care of the baby. You can help cover Chhutki's medical expenses and secure her future. Every little bit counts. Click here to donate.)
