Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on Tuesday expanded its Android One line-up with Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite devices that will come to India on 8 August.
The Mi A2 is the successor to the critically acclaimed Mi A1, its first Android One powered smartphone, while the Mi A2 Lite is a smaller, less powerful version of the A2.
The Mi A2 sports a 12 megapixel + 20 megapixel rear AI dual camera setup and a 20 megapixel AI integrated front camera. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chip with the powerful Qualcomm Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE).
The smaller Mi A2 Lite has a 12 megapixel + 5 megapixel rear AI camera setup and a large capacity 4,000mAh battery.
As Android One devices, both the units will have unlimited photo storage with Google Photos.
"Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite are two devices that will take our win-win partnership with Google to new heights, following the success of Mi A1 last year," said Wang Xiang, Senior Vice President, Xiaomi.
Mi A2 comes in three variants:
- 4GB RAM/32GB Storage
- 4GB RAM/64GB Storage
- 6GB RAM/128GB Storage
Mi A2 Lite, on the other hand will be available in two variants:

Xiaomi is planning to launch these devices in 40 markets gradually.
Mi A2 features a 5.99-inch 18:9 Full Screen Display, protected by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
A useful feature on the Mi A2 is that users can manually select the 20 megapixel or 12 megapixel rear camera according to environment lighting.
These phones will be launched in India on 8 August 2018. Expect prices to be in the budget smartphone range.
