Affordable audio products, especially in the soundbar segment in India are hard to find but Xioami has taken upon itself to change that trend. The company, after launching affordable phones and smart TVs in the country, has now launched its first ever soundbar with a price tag of under Rs 5,000.

This product has been announced along side two new Mi TVs, one with full-HD and 4K screen resolution respectively. Talking about the Mi Soundbar, it will be available in the market from 16 January onwards via Mi.com website as well as Xiaomi’s Mi Home offline stores in different parts of the country.

At this price, Xiaomi is yet again offering a product that no other brand in the audio segment caters to right now.

The Mi Soundbar comes with eight drivers, including two 20mm dome tweeters to produce highs of the music. It also gets dual 2.5 inch woofers to deliver on the mids and four passive radiators to offer a balanced bass output.

But the most interesting thing about the Mi Soundbar is its flexibility, with regards to the devices that can work with the device.

You can hook up the Mi Soundbar with a regular television via Line-In, Aux port, making it compatible even with the boxy CRTs. In addition to this, you get Bluetooth, so that you pair it up with smartphone or any smart device to enjoy music wirelessly.

You get all this for Rs 4,999, which is quite an impressive pricing for a product in this category and as we’ve mentioned before, comes across as a no brainer for people, who’re on the lookout for an affordable soundbar. Having said that, we’ll have to test the Mi Soundbar to ascertain its actual quality and whether it delivers for the price.

Hopefully, just like how the Mi TV changed the pricing dynamics of television in the country, the Mi Soundbar could force other brands to rethink their product strategy as well.
