Realme, the so-called Oppo sub-brand has been vying for a spot in the budget as well as the mid-range segment, going up against the likes of Xiaomi, Nokia and even Samsung among others.
The brand has scaled up in market share in the country, making everyone notice its feat, including its rivals.
This is why I was intrigued to hear and know more about a company that has been around for less than two years. It has launched the X2 Pro, an affordable flagship phone with top-end hardware specs, but priced smartly.
The phone is priced starting from Rs 29,999 with two variants up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage on offer. We spent some time with the phone to see if it can compete with the likes of Redmi K20 Pro or even the OnePlus 7.
Design-wise, the X2 Pro does look appealing, with its clean focused finishing and a simple layout for the device. You won’t find it any different from the numerous phones (with a notch) selling in the market right now, and it seems they’ve stuck to what works for the users these days.
The phone sports a regular-sized display, with 1080 pixels resolution but using a Super AMOLED panel, that too with a 90Hz refresh rate screen. The experience of using the device will be at par with the OnePlus 7T and other high end devices.
Add to that, you get the Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, which is only running on a few devices as of now in the market. As we’ve mentioned above, you can choose from 8GB + 128GB variant or the 12GB and 256GB storage model. The added bonus is that it comes with a headphone jack.
Moving on to the cameras, the X2 Pro sports a quad-camera setup with a 64-megapixel primary camera, offering 20x zoom.
There are a lot of capabilities packed in these lenses and we’ll be testing them out to see if it matches up to claims made by the company. Other than that, you get a 4000mAh battery but this phone comes with a 50W VOOC fast charger out of the box, that as per the brand, will let you charge from 0 to 100 percent in just about 35 minutes.
The VOOC charger is Oppo’s patented feature, and Realme is getting it with support for 50W charging, that too on a phone costing below Rs 30,000.
All in all the Realme X2 Pro makes a solid first impression, but it needs to be seen if the phone has the durability and quality to match up to its rivals in the market.
