Numerous smartphone manufacturers have dived into the smart TV business in the past couple of years, and now Finnish smartphone company Nokia is the latest to join that list.

Reports suggest that Nokia is expected to launch its first ever 4K smart TV in India next month. Last week, Flipkart announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with Nokia to launch Nokia smart TVs in India.

The upcoming smart TV has been certified by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards), hinting that there will be a 55-inch display with 4K UHD resolution. If launched it will compete with the likes of Mi TV by Xiaomi, the Motorola Smart TV and also a few models in the VU smart tv series.

In terms of features, the 55-inch TV will have Android Pie out of box, allowing to users to download apps from the Google Play Store. Also, it has been confirmed to feature JBL Audio, GSMArena reported earlier this week.

As part of the collaboration, Flipkart will leverage its understanding of the needs of Indian consumers to develop, facilitate domestic manufacturing and distribution of Nokia-branded smart TVs and manage the end-to-end go-to-market strategy.

The intelligent dimming technology being added to the Nokia smart TV is expected to offer better contrasts, accentuate the blacks and also deliver good overall picture quality.

In addition to getting the Play Store for apps, users can expect the TV to come pre-loaded with video streaming apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and even Hotstar.
