Huawei wanted to make a mark at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 and boy has the company dealt a heavy blow on competing brands.
Not only did the company introduce two new laptops but it also launched its first foldable smartphone in the market dubbed Huawei Mate X. The company claims the new Mate X is the fastest 5G smartphone in the market which also supports a 55W charger!
Huawei Mate X
The Huawei Mate X offers a 6.6-inch OLED display which after opening the foldable design, transforms into an 8-inch OLED tablet-like screen. It also comes with a 6.38-inch screen at the back which can also be used to multi-task.
A prominent groove runs across the length of the phone at the back which houses the camera setup, at the end of which is the USB Type-C port.
The phone does not have any notch, nor does it come with a front camera. For security, the fingerprint sensor has been embedded into the power button on the side. The biggest innovation what the company feels is its “Falcon Wing” design which ensures there is no gap between the two screens of the phone when it is completely folded.
The Mate X is running on the latest Kirin 980 chipset and comes with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of in-built storage.
The multiple screens on the Mate X allows a user to multi-task and that indeed is the biggest USP of this phone. The folding display allows users to make use of the rear camera as a selfie camera.
The Mate X comes with a dual battery setup inside worth 4,500mAh.
The Huawei Mate X has been priced at 2,299 euros (roughly Rs. 1.86 lakhs) and will be available in the middle of 2019.
The New MateBook Duo
Huawei also launched three new laptops at the event. The MateBook X Pro, MateBook 13 and the MateBook 14.
The Huawei MateBook X Pro gets a 13.9-inch display which has a screen-to-body ratio of 91 percent. It is powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 series processor and for graphics, it houses Nvidia GeForce MX250 GPU.
The MateBook X Pro has a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button. The Huawei MateBook X has been priced starting at 1,599 euros (roughly Rs. 1.30 lakhs).
The other laptop launched at the event was the MateBook 14 With which comes with an on board camera embedded inside the keyboard, and it pops out whenever you need to use it.
The laptop comes with a 14-inch Full View display which doubles up as a touchscreen. The MateBook 14 houses an Intel Core i7 8565 processor, an Nvidia GeForce MX250 for graphics and up to 10.5 hours of battery life while browsing the web. The MateBook 14 has been priced starting 1,199 euros (roughly Rs. 97,000).
Huawei also launched a 13-inch touchscreen version of the MateBook 14 dubbed the MateBook 13.
