Remember Meizu? This smartphone brand that brought to you phones like the Meizu M2 and the M2 Note a couple of years ago. Now it’s making a comeback into the Indian market with three new smartphones for each category and segment of the market.
The Meizu C9 which is their budget phone has been priced at Rs 5,999 while their sub-10k segment offering will be the Meizu M6T priced at Rs 7,999.
The company has also launched a flagship device dubbed the Meizu M16TH (quite a mouthful) and has been priced at Rs 39,999.
We got some time with all three but we’ll keep our focus on its flagship the M16TH which is in direct competition with the likes of the Poco F1 and the OnePlus 6.
The M16TH looks quite elegant and comes with a very thin bezel at just 1.43mm which rather accentuates the look of the phone. It’s lightweight and feels very comfortable in the hands.
The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with - GB of RAM. One expects this to be a stellar performer but with Flyme UI on top of Android, I am skeptic about its appeal to many users.
The rear camera comprises of a dual 12+20-megapixel setup while the front sports a 20-megapixel camera. The company could have been a bit more generous with the battery. At just 3,010mAh, the battery juice might not make it through the day especially with a power-draining processor like the Snapdragon 845.
The Meizu M6T is the typical budget phone that you’d look for in the sub-Rs 10,000 category. It comes with a ---- display and an octa-core processor with capabilities to handle the basics. The phone comes with a dual 13+2-megapixel rear camera and a 3,300mAh battery inside.
The most economical option in the line up is the Meizu C9 which is the ultimate budget device. At Rs 5,999 you get a 5.45-inch HD display and face unlock feature. It also offers a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 3,000mAh battery.
