At first I wasn’t even sure whether to do this comparison. The Rs 68,000 Note 8 against the Rs 45,000 V30+! Doesn’t seem fair.
However, then I thought of the many out there who’d want to see where LG’s new flagship, the V30+, stands in comparison to the champion of champions in the smartphone world, the Note 8.
So here’s a quick specs-to-specs comparison between the V30+ and the Note 8.
Ahead of the 'Curve'
There is no doubt that the Note 8 is a very good looking phone, it comes with a gorgeous 6.3-inch QUAD HD display and the curved screen is the cherry on the cake.
But the extra glass on the edges makes the phone vulnerable to drops. So yeah, the beauty comes with a price.
The V30+ also comes with a vibrant 6-inch QUAD HD display that is great for viewing content and works well in sunlight.
Both the phones in terms of display are almost shoulder to shoulder but design-wise, the Note 8 has the upper ‘edge’.
The 'Pen' Is Mightier in This Case
The biggest reason the Note 8 is a better device in terms of utility is the S-Pen.
The stylus is like the heart of the device and makes the Note 8 not only fun but gives it a professional touch.

Both phones come with the latest chipset, like the Exynos 8895 on the Note 8 and the Snapdragon 835 on the V30+. Note 8 having 6GB RAM again takes the lead against the 4GB in the V30+.
Both offer expandable storage and run on Android Nougat, so there’s not much to separate the two.
The ‘Duel’ Camera Setup
The first Samsung phone to come with a dual-camera, the Note 8 has set a benchmark in the industry and the V30+ tries to better it.
Where the Note 8 comes with a 12+12-megapixel dual camera setup with a maximum aperture of f/1.7, the LG V30+ sports a 16+13-megapixel rear camera setup with a maximum aperture of f/1.6 which is the industry best.
Surely the V30+ has an advantage in low light photography but rest assured, the Note 8 camera ain’t that bad.
The wide angle lens on the V30+’s front and back camera is a great addition and trumps the Note’s optics any day.
FYI, I am not rating the V30+ camera as better right now based on the numbers. A detailed shootout is in place to find out which is better. Coming soon.
Not That Big on Battery
Both the phones come with the same battery capacity of 3,300mAh and support fast and wireless charging technology.
Because of the slightly bigger display and more RAM, the Note 8 might consume a bit more of battery juice but using them both the entire day gives you almost same results. Not picking any one here.
Which One to Buy?
Hmm... Okay... Which one to go for?
For the ones looking for a utility phone that is a workhorse and also a fun gizmo to play around with, you have the Note 8 for you.
Endless possibilities await you if you buy the Note 8. Doodling, photography, sketching, creating cool gifs and a whole lot more.
At Rs 67,800 you might have second thoughts of buying the phone, but trust me, at this price this is the best offering (better than the iPhones).
The LG V30+ at Rs 44,990 is a very good phone (minus the utility of the Note 8). It comes with a great camera unit and more than average audio capabilities.
So, if you want a good looking powerful phone that also offers the premium touch, the V30+ is a great bargain.
