Amazon is looking to tap in to the mid-range display-based voice assistants market with the launch of the Amazon Echo Show 5 in India which has been priced at Rs 8,999.
This is a smaller version of the Echo Show, which the US-based company had launched in India earlier this year.
Some of the new features that the Echo Show 5 brings to the table are how-to videos from wikiHow, updated home controls, new privacy settings and customisable morning and evening routines.
The device comes packed with a HD camera and built-in camera shutter and will be available in black and white colours. While pre-orders for the device have begun, shipping is scheduled to begin starting in July.
The smart display would allow people to watch music videos from Hungama by saying, "Alexa, play latest music videos". It will also allow users to catch up on their favourite shows and videos from Prime Video, or short news clips from some TV channels.
The Echo Show 5 can also be used to listen to songs from Amazon Music, Saavn, Gaana, Hungama Music, and TuneIn, among others.
The device can also be used to make hands-free video calls to other users using Echo Spot, Echo Show, the Alexa App, or even Skype.
