What do you get when an Italian bike maker decides to blend a road-going bike with one that is used only on the race track? Well, the Ducati SuperSport, of course. Ducati has just launched the SuperSport and SuperSport S superbikes in India, with prices starting at Rs 12.08 lakh Rs 13.39 lakh, respectively.
The Ducati SuperSport is the entry level model that comes only in a single colour combination –– red with matte black wheels. The Ducati SuperSport S has the same colour combination and also comes in white with red wheels.
The Ducati SuperSport is powered by a twin-cylinder 937 cc engine that puts out 113 bhp of power at 9,000 rpm and 96.7 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Biking purists would notice that these figures are very ‘street’ friendly, meaning it won’t be as wild to not be able to handle daily commute. The weight of the bike has been kept down to just 210 kg with aluminium use in the frame.
This engine is mated to a six-speed transmission with a ‘quick-shift’ system on the S variant. It sports a full LCD instrument panel, ABS and traction control. It sports a slipper clutch, which helps prevent wheel lock up during rapid downshifts.

The twin exhausts have a stacked effect. The S variant also has a cover for the pillion seat and adjustable Ohlins suspension system, which will be useful for those riders who also want to take the bike to the racetrack.
The Ducati SuperSport runs on 17-inch alloy wheels. It comes with three riding modes –– sport, touring and urban, which alter the engine management system to suit the riding conditions.
Ducati says the SuperSport is a bike that is both track-focused as well as suitable for daily riding. It will compete with the likes of the Triumph Daytona 675 and Honda CB1000R.
