British motorcycle brand Triumph has officially announced the Thruxton R cafe racer for the
Indian market, priced starting from Rs 10.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). With this, Triumph has
fulfilled its Bonneville commitments in the country. The Thruxton R was first showcased at the
Auto Expo 2016 this year but the company refrained from divulging its price back then.
The Thruxton R launched in India packs a 1200 cc parallel twin engine, which can touch up to 96 bhp at 6750-rpm as per the company. The cafe racer is also capable of raking 112-Nm of peak torque at 4950 rpm.
Interestingly, Triumph claims that with a low inertia crank, one can easily rev up the 1200-cc Thruxton R freely. It comes equipped with a six-speed gearbox for transmission.
So what about its looks? The Triumph Thruxton R carries forward the legacy of the company’s signature design with emphasis on making a beefy yet elegant two-wheeler.
As you can see above, there’s a definite retro touch to the Thruxton R with the use gold and black dual tones. Add to that, you get a new set of headlights with DRL and a 3D dual clock is also available on the instrument panel.
The premium two-wheeler takes care of the riding conditions with its rain, road and sport riding modes. And finally, liquid cooling ensures the 1200-cc never goes over the top with respect to heating.
