Toyota will be showcasing the new Innova, christened Innova Crysta, at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The car is expected to hit the Indian market in the first half of the current year. The car was first revealed in Indonesia as the Innova Kijang, in September 2015.
A lot of work has been done in the looks department and the new Innova feels like a redesigned model instead of a face-lifted one.
The large grille, two thick chrome strips and edgy headlamps on the front are similar to the modern day design language followed by Toyota vehicles. The new projector headlamps now include daytime running LED strips and the indicators have been moved next to the fog lamps.
The rear of the car has been reworked as well. The vertical tail lamps have been replaced with horizontal style tail lights with the indicators placed below it.
Inside, the new Toyota Innova will receive automatic climate control, steering mounted controls, a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and USB and AUX-IN.
The new Innova will be available in three variants, namely G, V and Q. G is the lowest and Q is the highest variant.
To keep you safe, dual airbags are a standard feature along with stability control and hill-start assist.
The 2016 version will have two driving modes – Eco and Power – across all variants. It will be powered by a 2L petrol and 2.4L diesel engine and will offer five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions.
Currently, the Innova is priced at Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will be interesting to see what the new model is priced at.
The Toyota Innova Crysta has high expectations to meet but what gives it an advantage over other cars is that it’s already an Indian favourite.
All it has to do now is prove that it has not slipped in terms of quality and performance, and Toyota might have a winner.
