1. Volkswagen Committed to Sorting out #Dieselgate in India

Following the news that Volkswagen will recall over 3 lakh vehicles in India over the global Dieselgate scandal, the company has clarified its stance to the Indian consumers.

Volkswagen Group India has presented its observations, findings and outlines of possible solutions on the EA 189 engines to the Government of India and the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). Volkswagen Group India has intimated why it believes that its cars are not equipped with a ‘defeat device’.

Furthermore, the findings from the evaluations undertaken by Volkswagen Group India, under the observation of ARAI, show that the tested cars of the brands Volkswagen, SKODA and Audi are not violating the Bharat Stage IV (BS IV) emission norms in India. To come to a common conclusion on the issue, further meetings with Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will take place.

2. After BMW, Mercedes To Hike Vehicle Prices From January 2016

Mercedes-Benz India will revise the ex-showroom price of its entire model range by up to 2 percent, effective from 1 January, 2016.

The decision comes after a recent price hike announcement by BMW India. The prices of the complete line of BMW and MINI models will be increased by up to 3 percent, effective 1 January 2016.

With rising input costs, we are compelled to make some price adjustments to our product range to protect the investment of our customers in the brand, maintain our premium brand positioning in the market, and sustain a profitable business.

The company has been working on making good its promise to release 15 models in 2015. The Mercedes AMG-GT S was the 14th model that the company launched. The 15th model is expected to be the face-lifted version of the A Class.

However, with the price hike, it will be interesting to see how the company performs in 2016.

3. Over 100 Units of Bugatti Veyron’s Successor Sold Prior to Launch

The Bugatti Veyron, fastest production car in the world, is set to be beaten and by none other than its newer, to-be-launched version.

Bugatti has announced that their new car will be called Chiron. It will have its world premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show being held in March.

4. Ferrari Comes Back to India, Launches Dealership in Delhi

This is the second time Ferrari store has been launched in Delhi and the company has appointed Select Cars Pvt Ltd as its distributor.

Ferrari entered the Indian market in 2011 and the Shreyans Group was its sole distributor.

The store was, however, accused of poor after-sales service by several Ferrari owners. Things got ugly when high-profile owners like Gautam Singhania, Chairman and MD of the Raymond Group, publicly expressed their dissatisfaction with the store.

This led to Ferrari ending their association with the Shreyans Group in a matter of three years.

According to Ferrari, things are going to be different this time around.

5. 2016 F1 Calendar is Out: India To Miss It Again

The 2016 F1 calendar is here and India is not in it.

The calendar features a new race track this year – in Baku, Azerbaijan on June 17-19. It also marks the return of a Grand Prix in Germany, with Hockenheim hosting the race.

Fans in India, however, may not be able to enjoy Formula One in the country this time around.
