The 2016 Auto Expo was full of excitement and fantastic vehicles. The push by manufacturers to show designs that you wouldn’t have thought of was evident with their cars and bikes looking fresh and futuristic.
But the race to be the best brought along a few models that failed to impress. We decided to put together a list of such cars and bikes, and unable to decide the worst, the list is in no particular order.
Honda Navi
Honda carried an intensive ad campaign about the Navi, prior to the auto expo. There were speculations about how the actual product will turn out to be since the company did not reveal any details on price or specifications.
It turns out that the latest offering from Honda motorcycles is a budget bike, powered by a 110cc engine and competitively priced at Rs 39,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
But when you look at it, the confusion in the design is evident. The company started out with the chassis and engine of a scooter and made it into a bike.
The result – A tiny bike that looks like neither of them.

Datsun Go Concept
At this year’s auto Expo, Datsun showcased a concept car called Datsun Go Cross concept. The car looks fantastic and is definitely a showstopper, but the problem starts when you begin to compare it with the existing line up of cars that they offer in the Indian market.
A renowned brand worldwide, the currently offer the Go and Go+, which are a hatchback and a MPV respectively. We understand the idea of a concept is to showcase something that could be the future of the company, and by the looks of Go Cross concept – the future looks promising.
But the company has not announced any plans about their future, or about the upcoming cars that are set to hit Indian roads.
They got our expectations high with the Go Cross , but it is the existing line up that makes it a fail for us.

Yamaha MT-09
Yamaha has launched the MT-09 model in India at Rs 10.2 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Powered by an 847cc, liquid cooled, four-stroke, in-line triple cylinder, it comes fitted with ABS and a claimed mileage of 19 km/l.
The bike in itself is good but overpriced. You can get much more powerful bikes at a lesser price in the market.

Hyundai Carlino Concept
Hyundai might have revealed the 2016 variant of the premium SUV, the Tucson, but they’ve also got a concept SUV for the future. The Hyundai concept car is a compact SUV that has the drawings which could rival the Maruti Vitara Brezza sometime in the future. This one looks interesting and could be the trump card that Hyundai needs to rival others in the same segment.
But as of now, there are no announcements about when it will be launched, what it will be priced at, or even what it will be called. The windows are opaque too, and show nothing about the interiors. This may mean that they have not yet designed the interiors.
So all that we know about the car is that it is an exterior design that may or may not become an every day car in the future.

The Crowd
During our coverage of the Expo, there were many incidents proving that there were some people who may not have been attending the Expo to see the cars at all, but to ogle at and click pictures of the female models.
That, for us, was a big fail. We hope this never happens again.
