Mahindra has been testing its Ssangyong-Tivoli based sub-4-metre SUV in India under the project name S201. The S201 seen in the spyshots is practically without any camouflage and seems almost production ready.

While there is no confirmation yet, the new Mahindra crossover will launch later this year (festive season) and will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Ford Ecosport.

The S201 will get wraparound taillights, as seen on the global Tivoli, with the rear fog lamp integrated into the bumper. The car houses multi spoke alloy wheels and the test car spotted by RushLane was running on Apollo Alnac tyres. The car will be developed at the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai and will come with both petrol and diesel engines.

It is said to use new 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre petrol motors which are being jointly developed by SsangYong and Mahindra.

The interiors are similar to that of the Mahindra XUV500.

Earlier spy shots have also given a hint of the compact SUVs interiors. It will likely come with a black interior with either beige or silver accents. It will also come with a touchscreen infotainment system.
