Skoda is all set to rejig its model portfolio in the country with the Kodiaq. This is a 7-seater 4X4 SUV that will be hitting the Indian market in mid-2017. It is highly likely that the Kodiaq will go up against the likes of Toyota Fortuner.

The company is focused on learning from its debacle with the steep-priced Yeti. According to Skoda, the Kodiaq’s design conveys ‘strength and protection’. The Kodiaq is the biggest-ever SUV with a Skoda badge.

The manufacturer says that the ‘Kodiaq’ name comes from ‘Kodiak’, which is a type of bear found in Alaska, and will be assembled in India as well.

The Kodiaq comes in multiple diesel and petrol variant, 1.8-litre TSI Petrol and a 2-litre TDI Diesel. This will be mated with a 6-speed manual/DSG and 7-speed DSG transmission options.

They will churn out around 180 PS & 250 Nm and 177 PS and 350 Nm respectively.
