The Formula E is set for a big overhaul. The auto racing series that uses only electric vehicles has unveiled a new race car, called Spark SRTO5e, that takes racing to a whole new dimension. And its carbon-fiber finishing is just one aspect of it.
While the car will be showcased for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the racing body has revealed some visuals of it.
Here’s a look at what the car has to offer and how it’s designed.
The highlighting of this model is the placement of a ‘halo’ right on top of the driver’s area, which apparently is there to protect drivers from head injuries. Kudos to the engineers for molding it seamlessly into the design of the racing car.
The existing set of Formula E racing cars can barely make it to the half hour mark, but the newer edition not only promises higher driving range, but also can notch higher speeds than before.
The likes of Audi, Jaguar are already part of the series, and other established giants like Mercedes-Benz and super car specialists Porsche could join the ranks very soon.
