Mercedes-Benz India has just launched high-performance variants of its SUVs – the Mercedes-AMG G63 ‘Edition 463’ and the Mercedes-AMG GLS63 – priced at Rs 2.17 crore and Rs 1.63 crore, ex-showroom Pune, respectively.
The former is a limited edition variant of Mercedes’ flagship G63 SUV, while the GLS63 is one of its most powerful, luxurious SUVs. AMG is the performance division of Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes-AMG G63 ‘Edition 463’
The Mercedes-AMG G63 ‘Edition 463’ is a limited-edition variant of the G63 SUV, which is itself a classic design. The timeless design of the G-Wagen has inspired many other SUVs. What was once a utilitarian workhorse, is now a luxurious off-roader, with comfort and performance to boot. This SUV is still hand-built in Graz, Austria.
The AMG G63 ‘Edition 463’ is powered by a supercharged 5.5-litre V8 engine putting out 564 bhp of power and 760 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.
This 3-ton SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 5.4 seconds, hitting a top speed of 210 kmph (with a speed limiter in place of course).
It comes with three differential locks and a low-range four-wheel drive system.
Some of the features of this limited edition G63 include 21-inch alloy rims in matte black, brushed aluminium inserts, and stainless steel underbody protector. On the interiors, it gets a leather-wrapped dashboard, quilted leather seats, and carbon-fibre inserts.
Mercedes-AMG GLS63
The Mercedes-AMG GLS63 is one of the most luxurious SUVs around. It’s like an apartment on wheels. And now, it is a fast apartment on wheels. The GLS63 also sports a 5.5 litre V8 twin-turbo petrol engine that puts out 577 bhp of power and 560 Nm of torque, with a 7-speed transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive.
It features an air suspension system (AMG ride control) that allows for sporty driving, yet reduces body roll completely, and keeps its occupants comfortable. Some of the features in the GLS63 include a panoramic sunroof, red brake calipers, adaptive LED headlamps, and chrome detailing.
On the interiors, it has black nappa leather, temperature-controlled cup holders, massage seats, electric folding s,eats and a Harmon Kardon surround sound system.
The Mercedes-AMG GLS is aimed at customers who want luxury and an all-terrain capability built into one vehicle.
