The Maruti Dzire is powered by the same familiar engines – a 1.2 litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 82 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque, and a 1.3 litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 74 bhp of power and 190 Nm of torque. Both of these are available in 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automated manual transmission.
The car is now lighter by up to 105 kg (kerb weight ranges from 860 kg to 990 kg) and that has translated into enhanced fuel efficiency. The petrol Dzire gives a claimed mileage of 22 kmpl, while the diesel Dzire has a claimed fuel-efficiency of 28.4 kmpl.
It comes in six colours, three of them new – Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown, Gallant Red, Magma Grey, Silky Silver and Pearl Arctic White.
Maruti has loaded up Dzire with a host of new features. It has also enhanced the space inside the car as it now has a longer wheelbase at 2450 mm. Since it is based on the Maruti Baleno platform, the Dzire is slightly wider and roomier. Some of the key features in the new Dzire include full keyless entry, push button ignition, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, 7-inch infotainment system that has Apple Car Play and Android Auto, and it includes GPS navigation and a reverse camera.
All variants of the Dzire now come with safety features such as two airbags, ABS and ISOFIX child seat points. Projector headlamps and LED daytime running lamps are available on the top-end ZXi and ZDi variants. Boot space has gone up to 378 litres now, while ground clearance is at 163 mm – enough to clear city speed breakers comfortably.
The Quint will bring you a full review of the new Maruti Dzire in a week. The Dzire is available at all dealerships and has so far chalked up 33,000 bookings.
