KTM on Thursday has launched the 2017 versions of the 390 Duke and the 250 Duke - the newest additions to the highly competitive entry-level sports segment. Both the motorcycles get new bodywork, updated paint schemes while the bigger 390 gets a couple of mechanical updates as well.
The new KTM 390 Duke gets new bodywork that is inspired by the KTM Super Duke R and carries the flagship bike's edgy profile.
The 390 Duke gets split headlamp with a full-LED unit. New features include a colour TFT display which is a segment-first. There is an optional ‘MY RIDE’ multimedia interface that links your smartphone via Bluetooth. The notifications are displayed on the TFT screen.
The bike gets the same 373.2cc liquid-cooled motor that makes 44PS, but it is Euro-IV compliant. It gets ride-by-wire and riding modes that can be selected via a new menu switch on the handlebar. It has a conventional side-mounted muffler now. Slipper clutch is carried over.
The clutch and brake lever are adjustable now. The fuel tank capacity has increased to 13.4-litres. The bike gets a new frame for better handling. The bike now weighs 149kg, 10 kg more than its predecessor.
The new 390 Duke gets new 43mm WP open cartridge upside down separate function forks. Ground clearance is now 185mm, up by 15mm. Saddle height, too, is up by 830mm from 800mm.
It now gets a larger 320mm front disc brake with a dual-channel ABS. The 390 Duke retails at Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), a hike of Rs 30,000 over the previous model.
The newest addition to the KTM Duke range in India is the 250 Duke. The new bike is styled similar to the new 390 Duke. The 250 Duke gets black wheels and Orange front frame. The headlamp is the same split one as the 390 Duke but misses out on LED technology and gets a conventional halogen bulb.
The colour LCD screen has been given a miss and the bike features an updated digital unit instead. The 248.8cc liquid-cooled motor puts out 30PS, 5PS more than the 200 Duke and also gets a slipper clutch.
The 250 Duke will be positioned between the 200 Duke and the 390 Duke. The bike will retail at Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi ) for the non-ABS version.
The 2017 KTM 200 Duke retains the old body styles with revised graphics. It now gets orange wheels like the 390 Duke. Updates include a BS-IV compliant motor similar to the RC 200. The bike will retail at Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-Delhi).
