Kia Motors India is giving Indian automobile enthusiasts a glimpse of its upcoming SUV based on the company's SP concept showcased at last year's Auto Expo.
The Hyundai Motor Company-owned car maker confirmed that the new SUV from the company will see a world premier this summer. However, there have been sources saying that the SUV could hit the market this June.
The SUV has been doing multiple rounds across India as part of its testing. While the car shown at the Auto Expo was just a concept model, the company has already showcased a close-to-production model which was first shown in Korea, dubbed the Kia SP Signature concept.
As per the sketches, the Kia SP gets an intimidating 'Tiger Nose' front grille with the Kia badge in the middle.
It has a sharp headlamp cluster with a bold bumper design. The front reminds me of the Skoda Karoq, but that's just me. Kia has also confirmed that the SUV will get LED headlamps and tail-lamps.
Heading to the rear of the SUV shows us a chunky bumper with chrome inserts. It gets horizontally placed tail lights with LEDs.
In terms of performance, it is expected that the upcoming Kia SUV will come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a diesel option. Both variants could be offered in manual and automatic options.
The Kia SP will take on the likes of the MG Hector, Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and even the Tata Harrier.
