One of the biggest gripes among the automotive press during the launch of Jawa Motorcycles in India was that it came with single-channel ABS and disc brake at the rear. Only the Perak variant to come later featured dual-channel ABS and a rear disc.
Jawa has sorted that out now by offering dual-channel ABS variants of the Jawa (classic) and Jawa Forty Two. This is optional and the single-channel ABS, rear-drum brake versions will still be offered. Here are the revised prices of the Jawa bikes now.
Jawa Motorcycles Prices
- Jawa Forty Two (single-channel ABS): Rs 1,55,000
- Jawa (single-channel ABS): Rs 1,64,000
- Jawa Forty Two (dual-channel ABS): Rs 1,63,942
- Jawa (dual-channel ABS): Rs 1,72,942
- Jawa Perak: Rs 1,89,000
These are the ex-showroom prices. But there is a catch. The dual-channel variants of Jawa bikes will be available only after June 2019, after the company has finished delivering the first lot of motorcycles.
Besides the dual-channel ABS, Jawa is also offering an exchange scheme and finance options with HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Mahindra Finance among others. It has tied up with Mahindra First Choice to drive the exchange schemes, where one can ride in with an old bike and exchange it for a new Jawa.
Jawa makes it bikes at the same factory where the Mahindra Mojo is made. It also uses common parts with the Mojo, but has been engineered quite differently. The Jawa bikes compete with Royal Enfield’s Classic 350 series of bikes.
The company is presently on a dealership opening spree, looking to target setting up 105 dealerships soon, with 64 already set for operations.
