The new Jauguar E-Pace has been unveiled by the company, and it seems to be on a ‘roll’, even before its official launch.

The E-Pace comes to the market as the smallest SUV manufactured by the company, and also the second in line, preceded by the F-Pace. There is also the I-Pace concept which is an electric SUV, but more on that later. Also, this is the British manufacturers’s first car to be manufactured outside its home market in Austria.

  • Torque: 380 Nm

Just as the XE and XF carry a lot of similarities, the E-Pace has also been inspired from its bigger sibling the F-Pace. Apart from the similarities, the E-Pace sports larger swept-back LED headlamps, and also large air dams in the front.

The inside of the car sees a lot of new additions like the new dashboard layout. It houses a 10.2-inch Jaguar Touch Pro infotainment screen which comes with InControl apps.

No Apple CarPlay or Android Auto yet, but the company said they will bring them soon. What is surprising is that the E-Pace doesn't get the rising rotary gear selector that is found on various other Jaguar models. Instead, it comes with a sports stick shifter that looks like a conventional gear stick.

Remember when I said the E-Pace was already on a ‘roll’? Well, the E-Pace has also been listed in the Guinness World Records after the compact SUV completed a 15.3-meter long jump with a 270-degree barrel roll! Stunt driver Terry Grant achieved this feat at ExCel in London.

The car is available in three different models being the E-Pace, E-Pace R-Dynamic, and the First Edition which will only be available for the first year of sales.

The top variant is powered by a 2-litre four-cylinder Ingenium engine while power will range between 148 bhp, 177 bhp and 237 bhp on the diesels, and 247 bhp and 297 bhp of power for the petrol variants respectively. The 297 bhp petrol variant is capable of hitting 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds.

The pricing for the Jaguar E-Pace in UK starts at 28,500 pounds, which is roughly around Rs 23.77 lakh and is set to come to India in 2017.
