Hero Motorcorp, after about a year and a half, has silently re-launched its Karizma ZMR in the country. The bike will come in two variants – a standard and a dual-tone variant and will be priced between Rs 1.08 lakh and Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Bookings for the new Hero Karizma ZMR have already started. Hero stopped the production of the Karizma last year after it failed to receive the BS-IV update. Hero hasn’t officially confirmed its relaunch, but the product has silently reappeared on the company’s website again.

Although the original Karizma was fairly popular, the updated ZMR styling did not go down too well with customers and sales of the bike slid.

But the question worth asking is, why is Hero Motorcorp launching the bike again? The only reason behind that could be related to its sheer popularity among people, giving them another chance to buy the Karizma ZMR.

Having said that, one has to understand that the Karizma ZMR came in 2014, making it obsolete in today’s market. The Karizma ZMR has received no cosmetic changes, it is powered by the same 223 cc single-cylinder oil cooled engine (of course, BS-IV compliant now).

The competition is fierce in the 200 cc segment, with brands like Yamaha, TVS and Bajaj among others making inroads.

The engine produces 20 bhp of power and 19.7 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Hero claims a top speed of 129 Kmph for the Karizma ZMR. The engine uses a 16 bit ECU processor.

Will the updated Hero Karizma ZMR be able to turn its fortunes around? The company hasn’t begun pushing it yet, so let’s wait and watch.
