Ford India has launched a CNG variant of its compact sedan, Ford Aspire, which is available at Rs 6.27 lakh. There is another Trend Plus variant which has been priced at Rs 7.12 lakh. The company has said that the CNG kits will be fitted to the 1.2-litre petrol variants.
Ford had upgraded the Aspire last year with an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and a few cosmetics updates. The Ford Aspire has held the reputation of being one of the most spacious cars in its segment. Some of its strong suites are the ride quality and driving feel.
The Quint had the opportunity of driving the new petrol variant of the car and you can check out our first drive review here.
The CNG kit in the New Aspire will be integrated with the engine control unit (ECU) to ensure optimised gas flow in each cylinder. The company has made some modifications like adding a stabiliser bar to the car to accommodate for the additional weight of the CNG cylinder.
The Ford Aspire diesel comes with a tried-and-tested 1.5 litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 100PS of power and 215 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol variant comes with a 1.2 litre, three-cylinder engine which makes more power and torque. It puts out 96PS of power and 120 Nm of torque.
In terms of features, the Trend Plus variant gets a regular infotainment system, manual air-con, power mirrors and power windows.
