Ducati has unleashed not one, but two mid-level bikes in the country. The Monster 797 and Multistrada 950 may not rank as the most powerful Ducati bikes, but with prices starting from Rs 7.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), this is as affordable as it can get with the Italian bike maker.
The Monster 797 packs the same engine that we saw with the Scrambler, offering 73 Bhp of power and 69 Nm of torque. The bike weighs around 175 kg, which is more than what the Triumph Street Triple S weighs, even though it has more power and torque to offer.
Ducati has announced that the price of Monster 797 will be subject to revision once the GST rates for high-end bikes are confirmed, applicable from 1 July onwards. As for the Multistrada 950, you’ve got a price tag Rs 12.60 lakh (ex-showroom) that remains unchanged, even after 1 July.
Monster 797 packs an L-Twin 803-cc engine, with 6-speed transmission and twin disc brakes on both sides. The LCD console features speedometer, odometer, trip meter and gear shift indicator as well.
The safety measures are taken care of by the 345-mm disc on the front, and 245-mm disc at the back. The rider seat is positioned at 820-mm, which is the lowest that Ducati can offer.
The wide handle bars ensure the bike can be used as a daily commuter or driven on highway, says Ducati.
The round LED headlamps at the front give Monster 797 the imposing yet sporty touch that Ducati is renowned for. The bike comes with 16-litre fuel tank, ABS but no traction control.
Ducati already has the Multistrada 1200, which is not only expensive (costs around Rs 19 lakh), but offers more power, durability and rigour, compared to its 950 compatriot as well.
This tourer comes with 937-cc Testastretta L-Twin engine that offers 113 Bhp of power, 96 Nm of torque.
Being a tourer, Ducati offers a 20-litre fuel tank (Multistrada 1200 has 30-litre), and you get to choose between normal Pirelli 17-inch tyres or the Scorpion Trail for off-roading.
Just like the Monster 797, the Multistrada 950 features a well-detailed LCD console that is usable in every condition.
