The 2016 Indian Auto Expo has had a fair share of launches and attractions, but surprisingly, this time around it is not just the fancy sportscars or superbikes that are garnering all the attention, it is also Buses and Trucks.
Scania and JBM showcased interesting bus designs, but it was Tata’s concept truck, that was catching eyeballs as if it was the showstopper for the company
What almost immediately stand out are the humongous tires with chains on them. It might look like these chains are for cosmetic attraction, but putting chains on tires actually helps the truck gain traction while riding in the snow. Not that it would need it in India, but something is better than nothing.
Having the badge of 4x4 Ultra, it is actually pretty huge in the flesh. The tall and wide stance gives it a very brawny look.
The centre of attraction at Tata’s pavilion is the arm that pops out from the back, perhaps to help you carve a new road when you run out of a proper one.
The truck might look fantastic but it is just a concept, built to catch eyeballs for the company at such events. Seeing them on the road might sound like a dream, but hey, at least, we got to see a heavy duty Indian truck at the event, amongst all the Japanese and European ones.
