Nissan Group of India and Renault announced a price hike across their entire model range, effective from 1 January 2016.
Nissan Group of India also includes Datsun models, along with Nissan cars, sold in the country.
The Group and Renault have said that the decision has been taken due to the rising input costs faced by the companies, and will be increasing the prices by up to 3 percent.
Currently, the range of cars offered by Nissan in India starts from the Micra hatchback to SUV Terrano with prices starting from Rs 4.47 lakh to Rs 12.91 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The price increase is to offset the rising input costs. The revision of prices will soften the negative impact and help the company stay competitive,Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India
Renault India, which is a fully-owned subsidiary of France’s Renault SAS, sells seven models in the country – Kwid, Pulse, Scala, Duster, Lodgy, Fluence and Koleos, priced between Rs 2.56 lakh and Rs 23.47 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Datsun range of vehicles include the entry level small car Datsun Go and multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) Datsun Go Plus which are priced between Rs 3.23 lakh and Rs 4.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Nissan Group of India and Renault aren’t the first to hike prices across their entire model range from January. Previously, Maruti Suzuki India, Toyota, Hyundai and German luxury car makers BMW and Mercedes have also announced price hikes due to weakening of the Indian Rupee against the US Dollar and rising input costs.
