The world’s fastest production car is set to be beaten and by none other than its to-be-launched new version.

Bugatti has announced that their new car will be called Chiron. It will have its world premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show being held in March.

According to Bugatti, the company has been organising private previews of the car prior to launch for selective customers and more than 100 cars have been already booked. Interestingly, none of those customers have driven the car and have ordered based solely on its looks.

The Chiron has been named after Louis Chiron, a race car driver who won almost every Grand Prix for the brand in the 1920s and 1930s.

Currently the Chiron is still undergoing testing process in several places across the globe to assess the car under different conditions.

Bugatti goes on to say that the new model will be the fastest car in the world.

Currently, the record for the fastest production car in the world is held by Bugatti’s outgoing model – the Bugatti Veyron. The record was achieved when Veyron recorded a speed of 430.9 km/h.

Bugatti’s claim that Chiron will break this record, and that over 100 models have been booked based on looks makes it one of the most sought after car for 2016.
