BMW Motorrad has announced that the G310 R and the GS310 will be launching in the second half of 2018 in the country. The G310 R is the main product out of which the Apache 310RR has also made its way to the market.

At first glance you’ll immediately notice the short-wheel base and naked bike character which gives it a very agile and dynamic look.

As we already know, the G310 R has been made by the Motorrad team in collaboration with TVS for the Indian market, which according to them is likely to help them price this two-wheeler aggressively.

The engine is a single cylinder 313 cc engine with electronic fuel injection and produces an impressive 34 bhp at 9500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm.

The power figures, which are impressive by themselves, become crazy good when you throw the weight of the bike into the equation. At mere 158.5 kilograms, the riders might need to hold onto the handlebar a little tighter.

It comes fitted with 2-channel ABS as standard. In the front, there is a 300 mm single-disc brake with radially bolted 4-piston fixed caliper. At the back, this function is performed by a 240-millimetre brake disc with 2-piston floating caliper in conjunction.

The G 310 R is the naked version, while the GS 310 positions itself with wind-protector in tow.

Both can be treated as adventure tourer alright, but everything now comes down to how aggressive BMW Motorrad can get with these two bikes. The same brand has launched the 750GS and 850GS which have been priced starting from Rs 12.25 lakh (ex-showroom) but we really hope that the G310R doesn’t go in the pricey segment.

My guess, anywhere under 3.5 lakh, and they’ll have a chance to make a mark in the country with the brand.
