BMW Launches 530i M Sport in India to Rival Merc E-Class, Audi A6

The BMW 530i M Sport is assembled at its plant in Chennai, which results in a lower price tag of Rs 59.20 lakh.

German luxury carmaker BMW has launched the 530i M Sport in India, priced at Rs 59.20 lakh (ex-showroom). The model now comes with a petrol engine and is locally produced at Chennai.

The BMW 530i comes with a BS-VI compliant engine. The 2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine puts out 252 bhp of power and 350 Nm of torque with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It can do 0-100 kmph in a claimed 6.2 seconds. It has five switchable driving modes that alter its performance capabilities.

The company already sells the diesel variant of the 5-Series model in the country.

The 530i M Sport comes with technologies such as display key which allows drivers to keep round the clock contact with car. It also has a gesture-control feature that recognises six pre-defined hand movements for control of a number of functions on the infotainment system.

The model is also loaded with various safety features including six air bags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with brake assist, dynamic stability control (DSC), including dynamic traction control (DTC), cornering brake control (CBC), among others.

In terms of looks, the BMW 530i MSport gets an add-on kit, with redesigned bumpers, fog lamp inserts and 18-inch alloy wheels that make it a little sportier. This sets it apart from the regular diesel car on sale in India, while the M-badging on the fenders show off its sporty heritage.

The BMW 530i competes with the Mercedes E-Class, Jaguar XF and Audi A6 in the Rs 55 lakh to Rs 65 lakh price bracket.
