Mahindra automotive ended the year 2015 with the announcement of its much awaited SUV after the TUV 300, the S101.
The S101 was christened as Mahindra KUV100. It’s for the energetic youth of the country and its brand ambassador is Varun Dhawan.
Vivek Nayer, CMO, Mahindra Automotive said that the ‘K’ in KUV100 stands for ‘Kool’. We are not sure how to react to that, but the new baby SUV from Mahindra is bringing the curves back and leaving behind Mahindra’s box designed SUVs.
The new Mahindra KUV100 will be powered by the all-new mFALCON petrol & diesel engines. Named after a bird, the mFALCON is a compact lightweight engine built to deliver peppy and high performance.
The company says that both the engines are built to deliver excellent low-end torque for the perfect SUV performance and an enjoyable drive.
The diesel engine on the KUV 100 is an mFALCON D75 Turbocharged CRDe (Common Rail Diesel Engine) with BS IV emission standards. It has a displacement of 1198 cc that will churn out 77 BHP power @3750 rpm. The KUV 100 diesel will also have a pulling power of 190 Nm @1750-2250 rpm.
Mahindra’s new petrol engine option on the KUV 100 will be an all Aluminium MPFI Petrol Engine that will also have an 1198 cc displacement. The engine will churn out 82 BHP power at @5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 115 Nm @3500-3600 rpm.
The KUV 100 is all set to launch on January 15, 2016, at the Mahindra plant in Pune. It all boils down to the pricing of this baby SUV now – that will decide whether it will be a hit or a miss among the Indian car lovers.
