Maruti Suzuki has launched the facelift for the Alto 800 and has also added a few safety features in the car. The company has started shipping the new car to dealerships across the country. There has been no official announcement of the same, but expect the car to be launched in the coming weeks.

The second-generation Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 was launched in 2012 and has received just one facelift before this.

As per some of the images that have surfaced online, the 2019 version of the Alto 800 comes with a few cosmetic updates and safety features like ABS, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, speed alert system and also a seat belt reminder.

The Alto 800 has been given these additional features in compliance with the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 145 safety regulations that kicked in from April 2019.

Cosmetically, the car looks very different from the older model. For instance, it comes with a new front grille and bumper with a large air dam and a new mesh grille. The headlamp cluster is large and has a bug-like appeal to it.

The company has also done away with the Alto 800 badging and it just gets an Alto badge at the back.

There have been subtle changes inside the car with a new dual-tone dashboard and steering wheel which has been borrowed from the Alto K10.

The new Alto 800 also gets an audio system bundled with a USB and AUX connectivity. The instrument console has been carried forward from the earlier pre-facelift model.

In terms of performance, the new Alto 800 will continue to come with a 796cc three-cylinder petrol engine that is capable of producing 47 bhp of power and 69 Nm of peak torque. It will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There’s no clarity if this engine will be updated to a BS-VI model soon.

Though Maruti Suzuki hasn't announced the price of the 2019 Alto 800, expect the car’s prices to start at Rs 2.67 lakh.
