Discovering the Land Rover Discovery
To see how the new Discovery fares on varied terrains, we took it to Off-road Adventure Zone in Gurugram, which has all kinds of obstacles to test any kind of vehicle. The Land Rover Discovery comes with an adjustable air-suspension system that can change the ground clearance from 210 mm to 283 mm at the press of a button. This also makes the vehicle supremely comfortable, no matter what terrain you take it on.
The supercharged petrol engine is pretty responsive and the Discovery feels peppy to drive. If you step on the accelerator, the suspension automatically lowers itself for better aerodynamics.
The car has convenience features such as adaptive cruise control, which really helps in traffic. Just set it to any speed and let it follow the car ahead of you. It will accelerate and brake in sync with the car ahead. Lane-keeping assist will warn you with a quiver on the steering wheel if you veer from your lane.
The Discovery also has plenty of storage space. There is a cooled box under the arm rest, a hidden compartment under the cup holders and even a storage space behind the climate control panel, which also houses the CD player. The rear seats can be electrically folded. Boot space goes from 280 litres to 1,125 litres if the third row is folded.
