Apple is reportedly working on its latest models of iPhone according to an online rumoured report from Chinese news publication 21st Century Business Herald.

Three new Apple iPhone models to come in 2018 are rumoured to support dual-SIM and gigabit LTE support.

This news might seem exciting enough for all Apple fans out there, but according to the reports the feature will only be useful in certain countries.

According to tech mogul Ming-Chi Kuo’s note, the three new iPhone models will come with dual standby feature and the SIM card tray will support only one physical SIM card, while the other SIM would be an eSIM or an Apple SIM within the phone.

An Apple SIM is a virtual SIM that the company provides with its iPad and Apple Watch, gives you the convenience of choosing a mobile data plan from carrier partners directly on the users’ iPads or Apple Watches.

The report doesn’t specify which of the 2018 iPhones will have an Apple SIM, but Kuo has previously said the 6.1-inch “budget iPhone X” and 6.5-inch “iPhone X Plus,” but oddly not the second-generation 5.8-inch iPhone X, will support dual-SIM, dual-standby.

Countries like China, where Apple SIM are not available will face some issue. However, this still hasn’t confirmed whether Apple will sport a dual sim tray for two physical SIM cards for specific countries differently.

Many mobile phone industry analysts and Android mobile phone manufacturers believe that Apple’s dual card, dual standby will have a big impact on the Android camp, especially in the Chinese market.

Now, although this news sounds great, it’s still difficult to believe as of now. However, this report cannot be ignored either and will probably soon get confirmed by developers who will be exploring the fact through their lines of code.

This is very costly to change as it would affect so many of the supporting systems and platforms. It would not only be a change at a low price but also at great risk and such a sudden change requires many of the surrounding systems to change at once.
