We’ve got lots to learn from para-athlete Shweta Sharma — a polio survivor, a single mother and a sportswoman. When she was nine months old, Shweta lost her legs to polio but the disease didn’t stop her from pursuing her dreams.
Shweta, a national level para-athlete, learnt her moves by watching videos of Rio Paralympics silver medallist Deepa Malik on YouTube. Her dream is to win a medal for India at the next Paralympics.
The 31-year-old has the responsibility to care for her two little boys and her ageing parents with whom she lives in Delhi.
Life has been a struggle for Shweta Sharma. She may not have got a lot of funding but she’s high on spirit. Let’s help raise funds so she can support her dream and raise her kids.
To celebrate the joy of the festive season, do your bit to keep her smile alive.
