Team India is out of the World Cup and while the analysis of why the team lost to New Zealand is well under, there are some positives for Virat Kohli’s team.
Okay, well, maybe not ‘some’ – just the one.
Courtesy their semi-final appearance in the 2019 World Cup, each member of the team and support staff is slated to get a big payday.
According to the ICC’s World Cup prize money breakdown, the Indian team is slated to receive a total of Rs 8,09,55,500 for its campaign over the last month in England and Wales.
The 2019 World Cup Champions will receive a cool Rs 27,46,50,000 – the highest-ever cash prize for cricket’s showpiece event.
There’s also the added prize money for each league stage win and for all four teams that qualified for the semis.
While India get Rs 5,49,30,000 as the losing semi-finalists, they also get Rs 27,46,500 for every win in the league stage that totals to Rs 1,92,25,500 for their 7 victories. Add to that the Rs 68,00,000 prize money for moving past the group stage and that’s a cool Rs 8.09 crore.
