India and New Zealand will face each other in the first semi-final in Manchester on Tuesday, 9 July. However, the threat of rain looms large. India and New Zealand qualified for the knockouts, being on the opposite ends of the points table. While India topped the points table, New Zealand finished fourth.
Meanwhile, according to AccuWeather, light showers are predicted between 11 am to 12 pm IST. However, relief from rain is expected during the toss which will happen around 2:30 pm IST. However, dark clouds are expected to stay between 1 pm to 4 pm IST.
AccuWeather also gives a forecast of rain between 6-7 pm IST, which might affect the game. Post that period however, rain is expected to stay away but dark clouds are expected to restrict sunshine during the game.
Both semi-finals have reserve days in case rain plays spoilsport in both the games. In such a scenario, India and Australia will automatically qualify for the final on account of their superior position on the points table.
Interestingly, the league game between both the teams was also washed out at Trent Bridge. So if the game is played, it will be the first meeting between the two teams in this World Cup.
